United Kingdom Yacht Hire solent yacht charter

› Qualifications :
As a general rule, the minimum qualification required to charter a yacht is the RYA’s Tidal Day Skipper Practical Certificate. However, we are aware that some skippers have years of experience behind them without having gained any formal qualifications at all. If this is the case, contact us and we can discuss your individual circumstances. Although not essential at present, a Short Range VHF Radio Licence would be an advantage if you wish to use the boat’s radio. Please remember, unless in an emergency, it is illegal to transmit without a licence. For your own crew’s safety, we strongly recommend that you also complete the RYA’s First Aid and Sea Survival courses.

› Boat Handover :
You will receive a comprehensive briefing on all aspects of the boat’s operation before you take her out for yourself. This will include operation of all the safety equipment on board and a detailed check of the inventory. In addition, an information pack will be available for you to refer to during your charter if there is anything you are unsure of.

› Cruising Area :
The yachts are coded by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency. The level of coding of each boat (2 or 3) will determine your cruising area. Code 2 is anywhere within 60 miles of a safe haven and Code 3 is 20 miles from a safe haven. We will be happy to discuss your cruising plan before you book to ensure that you receive the correct yacht for your needs.

› Insurance :
We strongly recommend that you take out Travel Insurance (to cover the cost of your charter in case of cancellation) and Personal Injury Insurance in case of an accident whilst on board.
